How to calculate the 10-day home quarantine? How many days should I book for a home quarantine hotel
- Home quarantine isn't calculated from the date of arrival, but begins the day after the arrival in Taiwan, ends at midday on the 10th day after arrival, thus making the quarantine period a total of 11 days.
- For example: if you arrive at 2pm on 1 April, 2 April is counted as the first day of quarantine. You are released from quarantine at 00:00am on 12 April. When you book the quarantine hotel, make sure the check out date makes the quarantine period a total of 11 nights. If you leave quarantine before you may face criminal charges or a fine.For example: If you arrive in Taiwan on April 1, the check out date will be April 12.
If my family and I enter Taiwan together, can I undergo home quarantine with them in the same residence?
- Family members/household members who arrive on the same day may choose to quarantine together in their home or a residence of their friends or family or they may stay in the same quarantine quarter depending on their willingness and room types of the quarantine hotel where they stay. However, due to the space of single rooms, it is not recommended that more than two people share a room.
Is there any other way besides getting a mobile SIM card at the airport?
- If you have relatives or friends in Taiwan, you can ask them to prepare a mobile SIM card for you in advance, and mail it to you, and that would save time for waiting in line.
- 2.Taiwanese service providers provide eSIM card (virtual SIM card) service, scan QRcode after application, you can download and install the eSIM card on your phone. It's super convenient! After landing in Taiwan, go to "Settings" → "Mobile Services" → "Add Action Plan" to complete the card exchange.
- Application method: The five major Telecom Companies in Taiwan have eSIM card services. Currently, only Taiwan Star provides the "online application" service, however, prepaid cards are not supported, and there is a "pay as you go" plan; Chunghwa Telecom needs to be handled at the counter, can apply for a prepaid card, then you can ask your family to send the QRcode to you overseas.
